Candidate Profile for Independent Retreats

The most suitable candidate for La Bonne Etoile Maison d'Artistes would be an artist or writer who needs time to plan or execute a creative vision. That may mean for some, time to think, read, and sleep. To others it may mean gathering resource material in the form of photographing the region, or having access to the vast collections of art in France. Still, to others, it may mean unlimited time in the studio or painting in the countryside.

Because of the length of time of orienting to a different location and culture, a minimum stay of three weeks is recommended. Longer stays are welcomed and encouraged. Extending into the winter months may be feasible depending on heated studio needs.

La Bonne Etoile may also be appropriate for the business executive that needs an extended period of solitude for project planning and the independent traveler (those that arrive at the door with their own agenda and transportation). They are welcome for minimum stays of one week. Continental breakfast is included with the room.

It is very important that visiting artists are self-directed, content to work and live in relative isolation. The village is not tourist oriented and activities are limited to biking and walking, however, excellent historical siteseeing is in very close proximity, accessible by bus or car. There is a maximum of four working guests during the weekdays.
