J-WIKI - a Q&A for all things French
Jerome, our walking encyclopedia on France and french “stuff” will be addressing questions sent in by our readers. But even more exciting is a series of articles translating Monsieur Pleau’s story of four Fontaine-Fourches families during the great Exodus in June, 1940. When the rumors of a German invasion triggered a mass exodus through Holland, Belgium and France, every village of France had a part in this story. Join Jerome in this translated 10-day exodus of 35 people, 1 car, 16 horses, 1 foal, and 8 wagons, June 14-23, 1940.
Monsieur Pleau, who many of you have met, is a consistent guests at the vernissages during the workshops. Mr Pleau is also one of Fontaine-Fourches historians and storytellers. He and his wife, Micheline, not yet a couple were eighteen years old as they moved with their families to find safety. Jerome will be supplementing Mr Pleau’s personal account with other bits of history accompanying the story.
In addition to this serialized story, Jerome will be answering your burning questions about French things. Send your questions to jerome@labonneeoile.com and watch for his answer in his weekly posts.

I was surprised to see there was not mention of any domestic pets participating in the exodus. Were they left behind to protect the homestead?
